Mark 10:13-16

I spent the past week working on a 15 page paper concerning the passage in Mark where Jesus rebukes his disciples and allows the little children to come to him. Mark 10:13-16. I asked the question concerning the significance of the children and Jesus' mentioning of the kingdom. The amount of information I found about this topic is unreal. Did you know that in only three verses there are SEVERAL different ways to look at this text? Several different interpretations that can be taken from 3 small lines. And yet we wonder why there are so many different views on the world as a whole? You see..as humans we think we know everything. Sometimes I sit back and dream about what God is going to say to us when we party with him. I picture a moment where we all sit down together and he laughs at how crazy our interpretations of his word are...it makes me crack up just thinking about it!
I did take two huge things away from this passage: 1) It does not matter our age, size, status, etc. Jesus loves us and wants to bless us just as he loved us when creating us. It is not for us to decide whether or not we deserve his love...we are his children. 2) We are to have the hearts of children. Do you remember what it was like as a child? Think of your own...they dont think twice before trying something for the first time or taking a gift from you. Birthday parties are the best..theyll open present after present and not even realize the importance of any of them. Theyll give kisses and more kisses before bed or all day and theyre the first to welcome you home after a long day at work. They are so free, so loving, so trusting. Why do we allow the things in this world to make us any different?
My prayer for each of us today is to think of this passage as a reminder of how much God loves us. Each and every one of us. And ask ourselves..do we share this same love not only for him but for the ones around us? His love is such a beautiful thing. Embrace it.

Here is a video that we saw at church last Sunday. Parents you have a huuuge role in your child's life! Remember to encourage them...even if he wants to be a single lady!! :)
